Are Gladiators Still In?

Gladiator sandals have been around for quite some time now. Whether you like it or not I think they're here to stay for a long time. They have been Spring 2008 Hottest Trend but are the gladiators still the IT item in Spring 2009? They have since evolved from plain black and brown strappy sandals to high fashion chic platforms.

Spotted: Celebrities wearing gladiators

The Olsen twins are most often seen wearing gladiators.

TFS Vita K & Vita B Masks

Mask mask mask. Everybody loves them. It is time to review the masks from The Face Shop that I bought previously during the sale period. So here you go, two masks are up for review:

Vita K mask sheet: with detoxifying seaweed extracts

Description:

Deep penetrating formula with Vitamin K

Purifies the skin and helps reduce dark circles under the eyes

Vita B mask sheet: with energy boosting cucumber and brocolli extracts

Description:

Deep penetrating formula with Vitamin K

Moisturizes, brightens and helps fight acne

Here's a snapshot of back of package for more details.

As told by the SA, Vita K mask should be used before Vita B mask to help purify the skin before any brightening or moisturising steps in order for our skin to absorb the nutrients better.

What I think about these masks:

The masks are pretty loaded with essense that sometimes it will drip down from your face when you're using them. They are also okay to use but what I don't like is I wake up with oily face the next morning after using them! I have oily combination skin. Usually I will not apply moisturiser after using the mask sheets. I even save up some essense which are left in the package after I removed the mask.

Will I repurchase? It is fine to use them once in a while but I'll still be looking for other masks to try on.

Masks are good for relaxation purpose and helps you to refresh exhausted skin but to actually see the good effect, we will need to use them regularly without fail. We can't be lazy when it comes to taking care of our skin. As the saying goes, there's no ugly women, only lazy ones. Be sure to apply masks once a weeks for healthier looking skin :)

Something additional related to mask. Eye mask has becoming essential nowadays so it is important to know how to paste your eye mask around the eye area. This eye mask is from The Face Shop too which I have reviewed before. They're quite a big piece enabling coverage around my under eye area.

Stick them along under eye line following the shape of your eye. Leave for 30-40 minutes or according to the recommended duration given.

MAC Saint Germain Dupe + EOTD

I've found a dupe for MAC Sugarsweet Collection's Saint Germain Lipstick! Now I can save up the money and buy some other stuffs :D NYX Narcissus is the one. A bright pink color lipstick, very striking.

I finally tried NYX Louisiana too today. It's totally lovely. Very bright fuschia but a little too sharp to wear it out in a bright day light. Maybe suitable for night outing, clubbing etc... It will totally make your makeup pops!

Besides that, I have also created another spring inspired look. You know I love my purple palette too Mona. I tried to pair this look with either one of my NYX lipstick. Which one do you think suits better?

What's your pick? I prefer NYX Louisiana that doesn't make me look sickly. I realize pink lipsticks makes my skintone appear darker compared to coral toned ones. Does that happen to any of you girls out there?

Apologies for the one-eyed makeup. I will update on the eye makeup in my next post hopefully :P By the way, I'm using MAC's Trace Gold blush here. Very nice bronze with subtle shimmers :)

~I Heart My Blog Award~

Rules: List 7 things or people you are passionate about. List the person that gave you the award. Put the award logo. List 7 other bloggers you feel are worthy of this award.

It is an honour to receive this award from my dear blogger friend, Siew Goh from The Color Palette.

Things I'm passionate about:

1) My Dear BF

I love him to the bits. He's my rock and has been there for me always ever since we have known each other. It's hard to describe everything about you in words. I will always be passionate about you dear!

2) THIS Blog!

Ever since I have started this blog, I felt so attached to it, it is my baby, my flesh and blood. This is where I express myself and my passions, my feelings and emotions. I also make a lot of new friends with same interest from blogging. Thanks girls for all the encouragements and sweet comments received on this blog. Totally appreciates them :)

3) Beauty & Makeup

Oh my, I'm so addicted to skincare and cosmetics now! It was so much fun playing around with makeups but also not forgetting that skincare is the basic and foundation to good skin. Cosmetics' purpose is to enhance beauty, not to make it worse, thus choosing the right cosmetic to apply on your face is equally important. Of course, after applying all the makeup, make sure you are still you. Be who you are and not another person.

4) Fashion

I'm always amazed at how fashion changes so fast and I find it so fascinating that we often have to chase and hunt a trend down and before we know it, it is already last season. Of course, don't become a fashion victim, produce your own style, be a trendsetter. That's the utmost important.

5) Forever Friends Bears

I have been dreaming about Forever Friends Bears for as long as I can remember seeing my friends bought them at the Gift Store. They are so elegant and cuddly, with hair so soft and golden, with pink flushed cheeks. They're so cute! My dream of owning them came true when I got older and I can finally afford to buy them. However, my bf will buy them for me as gifts because he knows I love them lots! That's why I love him! ;D

6) Pets

Cats are the pets I love to have the most when I was young. I have a few of them when I was younger. But now, I seem to love dogs more as there are more miniature dogs around. Not that scary anymore. I used to see a lot of huge and angry dogs when I was little which makes me so scared to go near dogs. But I'm over that fear now and my fave dog breed for now is Husky. I know, they are huge dog but they're still cute.

7) Crocheting

Crocheting is what I do when I have some free time. I enjoy making scarves and hats and others things adorable. Other than this, I would love to learn up knitting as well.

So now, it is time to pass on this wonderful award to those I think deserve it :) The receipients are... *drumrolls pls*

Li Choo from piggy~makeup~lover - my best cosmetics and makeup buddy

Fuz from Fuzkittie - for all your pretty hauls and great makeup skills

M from Make Me Blush - for your fabulous jewelry line and I love NYC

Tina from Luphia Loves - for the love of both art and fashion

Connie from Skin Deco - for your great tutorials and amazing reviews

Yumeko from Welcome to my every day... - for your great info on Japan and all Japanese makeup

Paris from My Women Stuff - for your great reviews and giveaways

EOTD: Earthy Plum and Pastel Green

Out of boredom, I guess it's almost time for me to try out and learn how to blend the colors from the Daiso palette bought months ago...

I hope it is not too weird to see different colors on both eyes as I just want to play with these two palettes :P Which color do you like better on my eyes, the earthy plum or pastel green? :D

*No eye primer used to show the color pigmentation of these palettes.

I used the Plum Palette to create this look. Minimal eye lining to create very soft look. No mascaras used too as this is just to try out the palette's colors.

Next is the green palette. I used liquid eyeliner to line the outer eyeline to elongate my eye.

Sorry for the unevenness in the eyeline. My first time using liquid eyeliner (from NYX) :P

Those pictures above were taken with my new baby camera (Panasonic Lumix FS-15). This post is actually made to compare the picture quality of my new camera and my camera phone. Collection of pictures below were taken with my camera phone. Let's see how they fare :)

Earthy Plum look

Pastel Green look

I guess I still like how my camera phone brings out the colors of my e/s. They're clearer and no skills are required to acquire this pictures. The only disadvantage is that it takes some time for it to focus and snap a picture. Maybe I still need to play around with my new toy a little bit to figure out which settings are best to take close up makeup pics, wuwuwu...

Back to the e/s, I personally prefer the Plum Palette better, the colors are pigmented especially the darker ones and this e/s is pretty suitable to be worn to formal parties, weddings etc in my opinion. The Green Palette is more bright and playful, still I don't know where to wear it to hehe...

My very first DIOR <3<3<3

Thanks to my beloved friend, Chooi Yee, I finally own my very first DIOR Addict High Shine lipstick! After so much temptation from beauty bloggers out there, especially you Fuz! I could not resist myself to grab one too...

It comes in its signature high shine packaging :P

I adore the shine so much! I was torn between 174 and 260, both gives very shimmery nude color. 174 has more pinkish tone while 260 has a coral tone. I got to know that 260 is a limited edition shade from the BA too :P But in the end I picked 174 as I don't have a shimmery rose pink tone lipstick. Fuz, 174 is still available in Penang :) I already have my MAC Shy Girl which is more of coral tone lipstick.

Here's 174 with flash and without flash:

I love how shiny it looks on my lips! You can apply this lipstick without gloss and it still makes your lips super sheen.

The overall look with 174!

I also tested DIOR Iconic Mascara, I did not purchase it as I did not read any reviews on it yet :P

My First Product from Etude House + NOTD

Etude House, a makeup + skincare house from Korea came to Queensbay not long ago. My first visit to the shop was memorable. I was awed by the amount of makeup goodies available in the store. There was much more variety available there and they are pretty affordable too. Packaging wise, they are adorable, very Korean-like cute hehe...

I didn't have much time in the store so I only managed to grab only one thing. Something I have in mind for quite some time but didn't manage to find the right shade. Nail polishes, I finally found them at Etude House, reasonably priced and come with so many color choices. All the colors were so cute, I wish I can have all of them! >.<

Cute light pink color in cute packaging too :)

My first NOTD!

The color is soft but noticeable on my nails. I love it!

I have only applied a coat on my nails as I wear this to work, just so that it looks natural :P
Let me know of your Etude House nail experience =P

Review: The Skin Food Black Sugar Mask

I bought this out of impulse actually, we were just walking by The Skin Food but my feet suddenly took charge and walk straight into The Skin Food store.

Haha, don't blame my feet, they're innocent, I went in to survey their masks, they're written and recommended all over blogosphere, I must go and take a look at what's so special about them.

The Beauty Assistant introduced 3 types of masks to me:
  1. Black Sesame Hot Mask
  2. Black Sugar Mask
  3. Rice Mask

I have heard aplenty of raves about these 3 products. Actually, they aren't mask but scrubs (wash off type). In Korea, masks and scrubs are also called mask, weird. She recommended me to use Black Sugar Mask. I guess Black Sugar Mask is in between Black Sesame Hot Mask which is for harsher skin and is strongest while Rice Mask is the mildest.

Description:

Black Sugar Mask with rich minerals and vitamin to provide luster and smoothness of skin.

Usage:

After cleansing, gently massage over wet face. Avoid eye area. Rinse off after that.

Ingredients:

Sucrose, Peg7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Lanolin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Limnanthes, Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Laurate, Butylparaben, BHT, Caramel, Parfum

I love this scrub a lot! It has done some awesome job to my skin. The first time I used this scrub, I've got compliments from my friends about how my face looks more radiant these days and asked if I have used some new skincare products. Well, I just told them I just started using this scrub lately. Amazing rite? People can see the difference so soon.

The purpose of this scrub is actually to exfoliate/remove dead skin cells off your skin to make them look more radiant. The texture is pretty rough because it contains sugar grains but they will melt as you massage them onto your face. Be gentle when massaging as the grains are pretty coarse and might hurt your skin if you over-scrub.

It leaves my skin feels soft and smooth after rinse off. I'm liking this feeling and seldom I felt this way about any masks or scrubs before. To tell you the truth, this is my first Skin Food product and it already left a good impression to me. I'm definitely gonna purchase more of their goodies. I even influenced/inspired Piggy to buy this mask, hopefully she loves it too :D

The BA gave me two samples :) Lettuce & Cucumber Water Drop Essense and Tomato Whitening Emulsion

It looks black and gooey but not disgusting...

The texture is pretty rough and has a strong smell too

I also did a mini tutorial on the usage of this scrub and what difference does it make after application :)

Firstly, apply an adequate amount of scrub on your skin.

Next, gently massage them onto your skin until they are evenly separated.

You can feel the sugar grains melt as you scrub them.
Rinse off after this, and voila, a smooth and brigthened skin :)
